Filmatic for iPhone
The whole film workflow, in one app.
Meter the light, time the development, check the negative, and keep a record of what you shot — four instruments a film photographer otherwise carries separately, built to be usable one-handed and to work anywhere, signal or not.
Light meter
Meter a scene with the camera and read off a full set of aperture and shutter pairs at once, so you can pick the one that suits the picture rather than doing arithmetic in your head.
Set ISO, metering mode, frame format, focal length and exposure compensation to match the camera you are actually holding. Lock a reading with AEL and it stays put while you recompose.
Reciprocity
Past a second or so, film stops responding in a straight line and a metered exposure comes out thin. Filmatic corrects the time for the stock you loaded and counts it down for you — start it, pause it, and pick it up again without losing your place.
Develop timer
Step through a process — develop, stop, fix, wash — with agitation cues at the right moments, so you are not holding a phone with wet hands trying to remember whether you inverted at the last minute. Save your own recipes for the chemistry you actually use.
Negative preview
Hold a negative against a light source and see it positive in real time. Sample the film base with the eyedropper to set the orange mask, then tune the colour until it looks right. Adjustments are remembered per film stock, so the next roll of the same stock starts where you left off.
Archive
Log rolls and frames as you shoot — film, camera, lens, exposure, notes — so a roll that has been sitting in a drawer for three months can still tell you what is on it and how you shot it.
In your language
Filmatic is available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Spanish — terminology included, not just menu labels. Film-stock names, chemistry and exposure notation stay in the form each language actually uses.
